First Contact Physio 

If you are experiencing problems with your muscles, back pain or strains. We Can offer you an appointment in one our extended access clinics for First Contact Physio (FCP). 

The practitioner will assess the patients needs who have muscle and joint pain and they will provide the most appropriate management pathway for your needs. They are physiotherapists with expertise in assessment and management of MSK Conditions. 

Please speak to one our advisors who will assist in arranging an appointment with one of our First Contact Physio. They are a clinician with specialist training to be able to see your type of condition and they can deal or escalate your care if needed.

Minor Eye Conditions Service (MECS)

Do you need help and information about Minor Eye condition ?

MECS is available to people with new and very recnt onset minor eye problems to get the help they need quickly and easily closer to home.

INCLUSION CRITERIA

The criteria for MECS examination may include the following acute presentations

  • Loss of vision including transient loss
  • Ocular pain
  • Differential diagnosis of red eye
  • Foreign Body and Emergency contact lens removal (not by the fitting practice)
  • Dry eye
  • Blepharitis
  • Epiphora
  • Trichiasis
  • Differential diagnosis of lumps and bumps in the vicinity of the eye
  • Recent onset flashes and floaters

EXCLUSION CRITERIA

The following cases will NOT be treated by the MECS service

  • Patients identified in advance to have severe eye conditions which need hospital attention e.g. orbital cellulitis, temporal arteritis
  • Eye problems related to herpes zoster
  • Adult squints, diplopia
  • Removal of suture
  • Patient reported symptoms that indicate a sight test is more appropriate than MECS
  • Suspected cancers of the eye (or in the vicinity of the eye)
  • Age related macular degeneration
  • Patients that have seen in the MECS service in the previous 3 months for the same condition

Dentists are open for urgent and routine treatments. If you are registered with a dentist, you can contact them by phone. You may have to wait for an appointment if it is not urgent.
